YES, GRAPHIC DESIGNERS ARE HUMAN TOO!

For all of you digital web dwelling people who have found me online, I am Hoshimo. (but really my name is Brian. Ack! how ordinary!) I'm a freelance graphic designer currently swimming in the thick fog (and good eats) of San Francisco. I specialize in logo & branding design as well as web and print design. Though weird but true, I take extra amounts of joy in designing cute creatures, fun game graphics, and deep, thoughtful and unique logos. I also surround my life with jrock, anime, playing the drums and guitar, and doing my best to glorify god as i live the poor life of an artist who is in love with his work. MY DESIGN PROCESS

Thinking what others don't think about. Making sure that the company's mission, beliefs, and values are incorporated into the logo along with the other usual themes like products, audience, style or services. Working directly in Adobe Illustrator CS4 to maximize time efficiency and creativity (it keeps up with my brain much better than pencil when I'm conceptualizing). These are just a few things that make me quite different from the rest. It's also why you might want to work with me rather than buying a cheap $100 generic "logo" or default website template on the internet. This is a craft. It should feel personal.

Anyway, onto the actual process! After receiving your written brief on the project, I spend 2 days doing nothing. Or rather, I let my brain dwell on things. You'll be amazed at how your brain can work things out subconsciously. I would say this is the most important step in my design process. On the third day, I design. I conceptualize in Illustrator, doodle in my Moleskine, research, and come up with my favorite concepts. Now once I reached this point, you come into the picture and we refine the designs together. I teach you the design process and what I'm thinking and you teach me about your company and what you have come up with on your side. The most rewarding designs are ones that are created through this teamwork.

It's way more awesome coming out of a project with a new friend and a great new piece of work to show in my portfolio rather than some money and another client to add to the list.
